PURE WAX CANDLES
No type of lighting can compete with the flickering and captivating light of candlelight; capable by itself of creating an elegant and evocative atmosphere.
Our candles are made by hand using traditional chandelier techniques, which gives them unique properties: they absorb impurities from the environment and emit negative ions that relieve stress (Lenard effect) providing great luminosity and duration.
COMPOSITION: Pure beeswax. Hemp or cotton wick ecological wax, lead-free, that does not emit soot or smoke.
Handmade product made by hand in Spain. Traditional mountain beekeeping. Sierra de Guadarrama. Product of the Montnature line.
PRESENTATION: Various glass vase sizes / single size ceramic. Includes little box of matches. Sustainable packaging with recycled and recyclable raw materials. reusable container.

1. Before lighting, the candle must be placed upright on a flat, horizontal, heat-resistant surface.
2. Do not rest the candle on polished, painted or varnished surfaces, on electronic devices, near or on sources of heat.
3. Do not place the candle near drafts.
4. On first use, cut the wick leaving a length of at least 1 cm.
5. From the second use, and in subsequent uses, it is recommended to slightly cut the wick, always keeping the length between 0.5 and 1 cm.
6. Never light the candle on or near flammable materials.

11. Always leave a space of at least 15 cm between two lit candles.
12. Do not move a burning candle. 13. Always put out the flame. Don't blow on it.

- Before leaving the room, make sure that the candle is completely out and that the wick is not lit.
- Do not dispose of in the environment. Dispose of the content/container at authorized waste disposal centers, in accordance with local regulations.- Sustainable packaging with recycled and recyclable raw materials. reusable container. Once the candle is consumed, put it in a bain-marie, remove the remains of wax with a piece of paper (do not pour it down the sink, it can clog the pipes) and then wash the container with very hot water.
ELABORATION
What is the origin of the beeswax used in MELLIFERA candles. Art in honey? The beeswax used comes from our own apiaries located in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.
How are beeswax candles made?
MELLIFERA CANDLES. Art in honey are made by hand and individually. Depending on the model, the liquid wax is poured into molds or a container is filled with wax. The wicks used are made of cotton, hemp and/or organic linen, without artificial chemical components to avoid the emission of toxic substances.
Is it possible to bleach beeswax candles?
They could be bleached with long exposures to the sun. Also with the use of chemicals, but this option does not fit with the values of the MELLIFERA brand. art in honey Preserving the natural color and smell, without manipulation of any kind, is one of the qualities of MELLIFERA candles. art in honey
Why does the color of the beeswax candles vary
One of the values of the MELLIFERA candles. Art in honey is precisely to maintain the color and natural smell of beeswax. Not doing so would distort the concept of preserving what is genuine that this material produced by bees gives us. No two honeycombs are the same, so the wax has a variable color. If we add dyes for a special edition, they are totally natural.
How do you get the wax used to make the candles?
The old combs are placed in a solar cerifier, where they release, by exposure to the sun, a top quality wax. The liquid wax is poured directly into the molds, forming the yellow wax blocks. The wax is melted and strained as many times as necessary so that there are no residues. No chemicals or industrial processes are used.
BENEFITS AND DIFFERENCES WITH OTHER MATERIALS
What are the benefits of beeswax?
Beeswax candles are beneficial for well-being because, when burned, they produce negative ions that neutralize allergens and toxins present in the air (Lenard effect). In addition to being a natural product, the smell of honey that they give off is sweet, pleasant and facilitates relaxation.
What are the differences between paraffin candles and beeswax candles?
The beeswax used is a natural product without manipulation. MELLIFERA wax. Art in honey, comes from our own apiaries, ensuring to contribute to the care of the environment and the promotion of a more supportive economy based on local trade km 0.
Paraffin is obtained from petroleum distillation and soy and/or rice waxes usually come from monocultures, which limit biodiversity. Furthermore, in order for them to be used to produce candles it is bleached and cleaned by using various chemicals. These products produce toxic emissions when the candle burns, since polymers are added to raise the melting temperature and, almost always, the candles are scented with artificial synthetic fragrances.
Why are beeswax candles more expensive than paraffin candles?
Because both the material and its production process are totally different.
Paraffin, which is a distillation of petroleum, is obtained through an industrial process. Soybean and rice wax usually come from monocultures, breaking the principle of ecosystem diversity, with the consequent environmental imbalance.
Beeswax is a natural product made by the bees themselves, all the processes necessary to prepare it in order to make candles are manual. MELLIFERA wax. Arte en honey, coming from our own apiaries, ensures traceability control taking into account sustainable development, care for the environment, fair trade and an ethical commitment to the producers and artisans of our environment. Good beeswax is scarce and for this reason, often, there are those who offer it cheaper, only including a small percentage of wax, which is combined with other materials.
CANDLE CARE
Why has a hole been made in the center of the candle and the wick has been drowned?
When lighting a pillar or glass candle, it must be taken into account that it needs to burn for a long enough period of time so that the entire diameter of the candle is melted. If it is lit for a short time, only the area next to the wick will melt and it will gradually become hollow until it drowns.
It is important to control the length and stability of the wick at all times, straightening it whenever necessary.
What are the recommended utensils to handle a candle correctly?
Candle holder or heat resistant surface, to prevent fires and/or wax spills.
Matches or long lighter: It is preferable to always light with wooden matches, due to its slow combustion and length that allows candles to be lit in a container without burning the edges or the glass. When you light a candle you have to put the flame at the base of the wick, not at the tip.
Trimming scissors: to cut the wick according to combustion needs
Hook to touch the candle wick from multiple angles, either to straighten it or extinguish the flame.
Candle snuffer: bell to drown out the flame and avoid smoke.
How often should the wick of a beeswax candle be trimmed?
It depends on the type of candle that is used, but in general it is recommended to trim the wick every 2 or 3 hours. It is interesting that the wick is neither too long nor too short. About 1 centimeter is correct. From time to time carbon can build up on the tip of the wick. If that happens, it's best to trim the tip a bit.
How to prevent a candle from dripping?
Drafts and rapid movements around the sail are some of the factors that often cause dripping. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid them.
WAX STAINS
How to remove wax from a fabric?
If beeswax has been spilled on fabric, the fabric should be placed in the freezer and the wax scabbed off. It can also be covered with kitchen paper and pass the iron over the paper until the wax is absorbed by the paper.
How do you remove wax from a candle holder?
The easiest way to remove beeswax residue from a support is to put it in the freezer for a few hours. Once out of the freezer, you have to remove the wax and wash it with hot soapy water.
It can also be put in a bain-marie and once the wax has melted, carefully remove it with a blotting paper. Wash with hot soapy water.
